
16 Indian experts attend a capacity building exercise and share best practices at Slovak Institute
Improvement of efforts to strengthen EU-Indian security cooperation, the EU delegation in India has facilitated a two-week CBRN-E risk course for 16 Indian CBRN experts of 29th May to 9th June 2023 in Slovakia. The initiative was organized by the project supported by the EU, improving security cooperation in and with Asia (ESIWA), which supports a deeper security commitment between the EU, its Member States and the ESIWA partner nations through Indo-Pacific.
The course, led by experts from the International Institute for Security and Emergency Management (ISEMI) of the University of Zilina in Slovakia, focused on improving skills for detection, sampling and decontamination of dangers CBRN; Strengthen knowledge and ability to respond to CBRN incidents live; And share EU’s best practices on coordination and cooperation of the CBRN multi-agencies.
India participants included representatives of the National Disaster Response Force, the Atomic Energy Department, the Atomic Energy Regulation Council and the National Disaster Management Authority.
A combination of conferences, discussions, role play scenarios, laboratory work and field exercises, training has provided a unique and complete learning experience. During practical training, Indian practitioners have put on a range of personal protection equipment and combinations of dangerous materials, while working closely with toxic and other dangerous substances when they practiced methods and techniques ‘Identification and sampling of CBRN materials.
The two -week course also allowed knowledge sharing and the exchange of best practices between Indian and Slovak experts. This exchange between the EU and India highlights the commitment to further strengthen EU-Indian security cooperation.
