In February of this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the head of the European Union Ursula von der Leyen announced that the Indian-EU FTA would be reached by the end of 2025.
Goyal has already met the European Commissioner for Trade Maros Sefcovic three times in 35 days, the last being on June 2 in Paris.
“We have held three meetings in 35 days. We are trying to accelerate negotiations. This shows our common commitment to the FTA,” said Goyal.
The first two meetings between Goyal and Sefcovic took place on May 1 and 23 in Brussels.
Links with Italy
Goyal said that bilateral India-Italy is low and under-optimal, and that both parties must work to stimulate two-way trade. Currently, the bilateral trade between the two countries represents around $ 15 billion.
“We want to increase trade, investment and tourism,” said Goyal.
India proposed to create an industrial enclave for Italian companies that do business in the country, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, said on Thursday.
“We want to create a house away from the house for Italian companies. We want an Italian enclave in one of the industrial industrial cities in India,” he said at the Italy-India Strategic Economic Partnership forum.
