New Delhi: The Minister of External Affairs, Jaishankar, said on Tuesday that a stronger india-element relationship can be an “important stabilization factor” in a world that promises to be “so volatile and uncertain”. Jaishankar also said that the relationship between the two parties is more important than ever.
Addressing the inaugural session of an annual Iic-Bruegel seminar here, Jaishankar, without naming any country, said that “in our continent, international law has been ignored with important consequences”. “Even on a question like democracy and the military regime, different standards were applied to our East and our neighbor in the West. “It is not my case that the principles are dispensable or that we must be completely in realpolitik. But the agenda can no longer be settled by some, to be observed by the rest. This also applies to judgment and interfere in the internal policy of others, “said the Minister of External Affairs (EAM).
Jaishankar also stressed that “we can all feel intuitively that the world is at the dawn of a great change”. “Politics is only the tip of the iceberg. Whether energy or connectivity, mobility or technology, major changes await us, “he said.
By referring to the India-UE Trade Actress (ALE) talks, the EAM said: “I think it’s time that we hear ourselves.” Jaishankar has also said that in recent years there has been a “more intensive commitment” with the European Commission and “we expect it to be even more in the coming days, in fact very soon”. “The deeper collaboration of India-EU is clearly in our mutual advantage,” he said.
Former Foreign Affairs Secretary, Shyam Saran, and various diplomats and experts in foreign policy, among others, attended the event.
“The world is currently attending two major conflicts, and these are often presented as questions of principle. We are told that the very future of the world order is at stake. However, Record shows how these principles have been applied selectively and unevenly, “said Jaishankar. “We, in India, are not yet to see the assault on our territory released after so many decades. Likewise, terrorism has been neglected when practical, “said the minister.
In his speech, Jaishankar also discussed the aspects of trade and digital technology, climate action and their interaction with geopolitics. Today, we talk a lot about “the world’s world order,” he said.
“There are as many North-South contradictions as there is an east-west fracture. Even these general characterizations are no longer tenable in a time of sharper nationalism, “said EAM.
The economic and political logic of an earlier era must be refreshing, he added.
“A perception grew up that the trade system had been tried in favor of a few. It was therefore not a surprise – with the exception of those in denial – that there would be a political reaction, “said Jaishankar. “It was easy to also give a cultural touch to these insecurities. So that we return to Brexit, look at political events in many other nations, including yours, or if we consider the return of the Trump administration, appreciate that these consequences really have causes, ” -It added.
On trade and geopolitics, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said: “We are witnessing a serious over-collaboration of manufacturing in a limited geography, which has many ramifications.”
