The India-EU relationship has reached a crucial turning point, because the two parties aim to strengthen their strategic partnership, according to the EU ambassador to India, Herve Delphin. Speaking when the number 5 of the World Magazine of India was launched, Delphin stressed the emerging dynamic in global policy and the need for cooperation between India and Europe. The event, which was held in collaboration with the Heinrich Boll Stiftung, underlined the evolution of India-Europe relations in the midst of world disturbances and changing alliances.
Delphin indicated that the dynamics of the India-EU relation has aligned itself favorably, symbolized by a rare planetary alignment. He mentioned the recent visit of the president of the European Commission to Delhi and the release of the EU-India strategic agenda as demonstrations of the EU’s commitment to strengthen links. The key areas identified for cooperation are supervised in joint communication which offers five strategic pillars, in particular prosperity, technology, security, connectivity and partnership facilitators. Delphin praised the alignment of political priorities and mutual commitment to a shared strategic roadmap.
The ambassador underlined the importance of institutional governance, business participation and expert collaboration to promote cooperation and understanding, especially on subjects such as China and South in the world. Delphin also noted the need to balance India’s relations with Europe and Russia, suggesting a recalibration. He underlined the shared values of democracy, human rights and cultural diversity as the foundations of the partnership. In conclusion, Delphin underlined the unprecedented strategic convergence and the potential of a transformative partnership between the EU and India.
