India and the European Union (EU) have reiterated their commitment to finalize the free trade agreement for a long time (ALE), stressing that a fair and balanced pact would offer major advantages to people and businesses on both sides.The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, welcomed the European Commerce Commissioner Maros Sefcovic and the agriculture and food commissioner Christophe Hansen in New Delhi, for the 13th round of discussions of the ALE.
“It was a pleasure to welcome you for the 13th round of the India-UE FTA negotiations. We remain determined to work towards a balanced and mutually beneficial ale, to unlock massive opportunities on both sides. Thank you for your visit. Pending our continuous dialogue, ”posted Goyal on X.Maros Sefcovic and Christophe Hansen are in India from September 12 to 13 to strengthen business ties between India and the EU.Goyal had recently declared that almost 60% of the chapters in the agreement were already completed. “I think the main negotiators work to converge on different parts of the agreement. Almost 60% of the chapters are finished and finalized,” he said, adding that he hoped that the visit would help get things done.European leaders also supported talks. The German Minister of Foreign Affairs, Johann Wadephul, told the Minister of External Affairs Jaishankar that Germany would support the European Commission to put the agreement to a rapid conclusion.
