New Delhi: the 11th Tour of India-Australia Economic Cooperation Agreement (Ind-Aus Ceca) Negotiations have just concluded in New Delhi.
It took place from August 18 to 23, further advancing the common objective of strengthening bilateral trade and economic partnership.
Based on the progress made in previous cycles and intersessional meetings, negotiations covered a wide range of fields, in particular goods, services and mobility, digital trade, rules of origin, legal and institutional provisions, environment, work and sex, providing a better understanding of convergence in the remaining provisions, declared a ministry of trade and industry.
The two parties have reaffirmed their commitment to advance CECA India-Australia and ensure that it offers significant advantages, economic opportunities and a balanced result for both parties.
To maintain the momentum and carry out convergence, the two partners will continue negotiations in virtual intersession.
For the future, with a shared ambition and a mutual understanding to work towards a framework ready for the future, India and Australia remain strongly aligned with the early conclusion of complete mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
“While India regularly advances its footprint through multiple trade agreements, this Tour reflects a firm commitment to improve economic partnerships anchored with national priorities and global aspirations,” said the ministry of the Ministry of Commerce.
India has strengthened its business links in the past five years, signing five main free trade agreements (ALF) and progressing on several new offers, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Jitin Prasada informed Rajya Sabha recently in a written response.
The agreements signed in the past 5 years include the Cooperation and Economic and Partnership Partnership Agreement (CECPA), entirely implemented in 2021, the Economic and Commercial Cooperation Agreement (ECTA) of India-Australia in 2022, the Indian Cooperation Association and EFTA (ECTA) in 2022, TEPA (TEPA) in the Indian free trade trade (EFTA) and Tepa) in 2024 and the EFTA) and the tepa) in the 2024 and the EFTA). The complete economic and commercial agreement (CETA) signed in 2025, which has not yet taken place in force.
Meanwhile, India has concluded negotiations for a complete economic partnership agreement with Oman. It is in advanced talks for several other agreements, including the India-Australia understanding Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), India-Sri Larkic Economic Cooperation Contract, India-Peru FTA, India-Chile Cepa, India-New Zealand FTA, and a bilateral trade agreement with the United States.
In addition, India examines and improves older commercial pacts such as Anase-India Trade in Goods Actral (2009) and India-Korea Cepa (2009).
India and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), including Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kirghize Republic and the Russian Federation, signed the mandate (TOR) in Moscow this week, to launch negotiations on a free trade agreement (ALE).
