New Delhi: India and the United Kingdom are committed to improving their cooperation in the development of advanced weapons and technologies, as well as to fight terrorism, including its financing and the cross-border movement of the terrorists. This agreement was formalized in “India-Uk Vision 2035”, approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The vision highlights the importance of strengthening the defense partnership, expanding military commitments and advancing collaborative defense capacities. A key element of vision is the creation of an industrial 10 -year defense roadmap, as well as a joint high -level mechanism to supervise its implementation. The existing foreign and defense dialogue 2 + 2 will be high, and cooperation within the framework of the initiative of the Indo-Pacific Oceans will be improved thanks to the creation of a center of excellence of regional maritime security. This aims to treat non -traditional maritime security threats and positions India as a logistics center for the British armed forces in the Indian Ocean region. In addition, the emphasis will be put on the research and development of new capacities, including underwater systems and directed energy weapons.
Vision 2035 also condemns terrorism in all its forms and underlines the need for international cooperation to fight it globally. He describes strategies to counter radicalization, fight against terrorist funding and prevent the abusive use of emerging technologies for terrorist activities. Strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation in information sharing, judicial cooperation and capacity building is also a priority.
The vision aims to protect citizens from transnational transnational crime, including financial and illicit financial flows, and to improve security cooperation, in particular with regard to irregular migration. By 2035, the partnership should redefine the India-UK relationship, offering significant advantages for the two nations. The vision is anchored in a high -level supported political commitment, with regular meetings between the two Prime Ministers to provide strategic surveillance. The implementation of the vision will be examined each year by the Minister of External Affairs of India and the British Minister of Foreign Affairs, ensuring that the partnership remains dynamic and aligned with shared strategic interests. The two countries are also determined to conclude a bilateral investment treaty and to consider the free trade agreement as a starting point for their ambitious partnership for growth.
