President Trump and his team published new details on a pact announced last week with Indonesia, confirming the plans for a 19% rate on the country and adding a 40% rate on “transhipaged” goods.
The most complete framework of the agreement is an additional confirmation of an agreement with the 23rd American trading partner which will avoid the 32% tariffs that Trump previously threatened. It also stipulates that “Indonesia will lower its 0% prices on more than 99% of its business,” said a senior White House on Tuesday.
The manager added that the agreement includes the elimination of non-tariff obstacles which, according to Trump’s team, hinder American companies, including in fields such as pre-entretian inspection requirements, engine vehicle safety standards and restrictions on American medical devices and pharmaceutical products.
The exact definition of the way Trump defines the transmish goods of certain debates in recent weeks. The agreement with Indonesia includes goods not only re -formidated, but concluded with a large part of the components of a third country, then to meet in Indonesia. This is also a provision included in a recent agreement with Vietnam and clearly targets China.
Indonesian negotiators previously confirmed that an agreement had been concluded but not all the details, the spokesman for the president of the country saying to Reuters Negotiations had been “An extraordinary struggle.”
