New Delhi: India and the European Union (EU) will carry out a joint naval exercise in the Indian Ocean from June 1 to 3. The exercise will focus on advanced counterattack operations, interoperability, tactical maneuvers and improved communication protocols, reflecting increasing maritime security cooperation between the two parties. This complies with their common commitment to a free, open, inclusive maritime order based on rules in the Indo-Pacific region, said the EU. “It is underpinned by respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, democracy, the rule of law, freedom of navigation and overview, a legitimate trade without obstacle and the peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with international law, in particular the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (CNONDOS)”, he declared in a declaration.“The exercise will involve ships of the Indian Navy and two frigates of the Operation of the Naval Force of the European Union (Eunavfor) Atlanta,” he added.
