The Indian Minister of Commerce met during his second day of talks with the Secretary of Commerce Jonathan Reynolds while the two parties have been trying to postpone the agreement for a long time on the finish line after years of negotiations.
The British stakeholders were informed of the talks of Amanda Brooks, director general of commercial negotiations in the business and trade department on Tuesday afternoon.
Brooks said that an agreement with India was close, but that Goyal had raised out -of -suspend problems at a meeting with Reynolds on Tuesday, several people familiar with the briefing content said. All have obtained anonymity to speak freely.
Among the problems are the calls of India to escape the next Great Britain tax on high imports such as steel and aluminum that the government promised to deploy in 2027.
Other questions include the description of the Indian territory in the agreement and the Sunset clause in the parallel investment treaty of the Pact.
Translections on a bilateral trade agreement began at the beginning of 2022. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised that the agreement would be concluded by Diwali in November, but an agreement has never materialized.
