
India and the United Kingdom are expected to relaunch negotiations on the free trade agreement (ALE) in a long time, sources told Ani.
As part of the discussions, the British Minister of Commerce Douglas Alexander is expected to visit India next week and meet the Minister of the Union for Trade and the Piyush Goyal industry.
The two leaders will discuss ways to accelerate the Ale talks, who have long been negotiating. The agreement aims to improve trade and investments between the two countries by reducing prices and attenuating market access for companies.
India and the United Kingdom have worked on a complete trade agreement that could stimulate economic cooperation in key sectors such as goods, services, technology and investments. The upcoming discussions between Alexander and Goyal should respond to the main concerns and find common ground to advance negotiations.
After a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Brazil, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the revival of the Ale talks between the United Kingdom and India in 2025.
Earlier on November 22, Richard Heald, president of the UK-Indian Business Council (UKIBC), said that the ALE between India and the United Kingdom has a potential transformer for businesses and bilateral trade.
