New Delhi, February 18 (KNN) India and the European Union have planned their next series of negotiations for the free trade agreement (ALE) for March 10 to 14, according to a senior Indian government official.
The additional secretary of the Ministry of Commerce L Satya Srinivas announced on Monday that the European Commission delegation will arrive in India on February 28, before official talks.
In a related development, the United Kingdom Minister state for trade policy Douglas Alexander will visit India for a meeting with trade and industry Minister Piyush Goyal on February 24.
This high-level meeting will be followed by the resumption of India-UK free trade negotiations on February 25.
“We took stock where we went to the last round (14th) and we will move it up during the visit,” said Srinivas concerning the next discussions in the United Kingdom.
India-UK free trade negotiations were launched in January 2022 and increased in 14 cycles of talks to date.
These developments indicate the continuous commitment of India to extend its trade relations with the main economic blocks, as it pursues strategic trade agreements with the European Union and the Post-Brexit United Kingdom.
