1. Ursula von der Leyen said India and the EU are on the verge of a historic free trade deal that could create a market of two billion people worth almost a quarter of global GDP.
2. The FTA is expected to be announced at the India-EU summit on January 27, during von der Leyen’s visit to India for the Republic Day celebrations.
3. Along with trade, both sides are ready to deepen strategic ties through defense cooperation, a new security framework and a long-term strategic vision for 2026-2030.
