Harivansh, deputy chairman of the Rajya Sabha, said India and the European Union are two of the largest and most vibrant democracies, open market economies and pluralistic societies. He observed that the trajectory of Indo-European relations continues to improve.

He said this during an interaction with a parliamentary delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade Affairs (INTA) at the Parliament in New Delhi yesterday. The delegation was led by INTA’s permanent rapporteur for India, Cristina Maestre. During the meeting, both sides expressed confidence that the India-EU FTA will be concluded soon.
Welcoming the good dynamic of parliamentary exchanges, the Vice President recalled the visit of the all-party parliamentary delegation to Brussels in June this year, following the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam. He stressed that these regular parliamentary exchanges symbolize the strengthening of the India-EU partnership.
