The free trade agreement between India and the European Union is planned for the 14th cycle of negotiations in October, according to the special secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, S Satya Srinivas.
Interviews have made significant progress in their ALE negotiations, the 13th round of talks now over. The 14th round is scheduled from October 6 to 10 in Brussels. The two parties aim to conclude the negotiations as soon as possible, those responsible indicating that the main areas of convergence are now at hand.
The negotiations between India and the EU are in its last section, sources familiar with the case told NDTV Profit.
All the main problems relating to India-EU FTA have been resolved, people said. The two parties are considering a complete trade agreement but do not raise the early harvest.
The key concentration area of talks was the protection of some of the sensitive sectors. The Indian government had said that all commercial talks will take place while keeping in mind the interest of farmers. The two entities aim to finalize the trade agreement by December 2025, as envisaged by the Prime Minister of Manager Narendra Modi and the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
