New Delhi: India and the European Union (EU) have reaffirmed their commitment to the early conclusion of the negotiations in the process of the free trade agreement (ALE).
In an article on social networks on X, the Minister of Union and the Minister of Industry, Piyush Goyal, said that a balanced and mutually beneficial Ale would unlock new opportunities for people and businesses on both sides.
“While the India-EU FTA negotiations continue, we have reiterated our common commitment to its early conclusion. A balanced and mutually beneficial ale will unlock new opportunities for people and businesses on both sides, ”wrote Goyal.
The Commissioner for European Commerce Maros Sefcovic and the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Christophe Hansen visited India from September 12 to 13 to carry out negotiations on the ALE.
On September 9, the EU Embassy in India said: “On September 12 to 13, the EU trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic and the agriculture and food commissioner Christophe Hansen will be in town to meet Minister Piyush Goyal, make the trunk and power in business links in India and EU and connect with the main stakeholders.”
The Commercial and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) of the European Union (EFTA) Association (EFTA) (EFTA) should be implemented later this year once all parties have completed their ratification processes.
Earlier, German Minister for Foreign Affairs Johann Wadephul also reaffirmed the commitment of his country to finalize the Indian-EU FTA as soon as possible.
During discussions, India stressed that significant progress requires equal emphasis on non -tariff obstacles alongside tariff issues. Regulatory executives, he said, must be inclusive, proportionate and avoid restricting trade.
Over the past five years, India has signed multiple commercial transactions, including India-Mauritius CECPA (2021), India-UAE CEPA (2022), India-Australia ECTA (2022), India-Efta TEPA (2024) and India-UK CETA (2025), which remains to be into force.
India is also in talks on several other agreements, including India-Sri Lanka etca, India-Peru Ale, India-Chile Cepa, India-New Zealand Ale and a bilateral trade agreement with the United States.
