Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to a productive dialogue with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday, focusing on the free trade agreement proposed between India and the European Union. Modi expressed his gratitude for the approval of the agreement by Italy, highlighting its potential to increase bilateral relations.
In their telephone conversation, Modi also addressed the current conflict in Ukraine, stressing the need for collaboration efforts to end hostilities. In addition, he discussed the implementation of the East-Europe Economic Corridor India-Middle (Imeec) which aims to improve connectivity in these regions.
The proposed free trade agreement, which the two nations hope to finalize by the end of the year, becomes a cornerstone of India-EU relations. Ressociated in 2022 after an interruption of eight years, negotiations are now in their 13th round, and the IMEEC initiative is considered to be transformer, connecting several continents through large transport networks.
