The Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, expressed the eagerness of India to advance negotiations on a free trade agreement with the European Union towards a decisive conclusion. Speaking at a joint press conference following discussions with the German counterpart Johann Wadephul, Jaishankar stressed the importance of this international collaboration.
The discussions focused on the strengthening of bilateral links in key areas such as economics, climate change, defense and technology. Jaishankar recognized the plan of Germany to strengthen trade with India and congratulated the German commitment to solve the problems of export control conducive to this objective.
Germany is notable with regard to cooperation in the semiconductor sector, with promises of total support for India-UE FTA talks. In addition, the two nations explore potential partnerships in the green hydrogen sector, presenting the deepening of Indo-German relations.
