Reconfigured strategies to be adapted by the newly appointed Tourism Commissioner to attract EU tourism to Kerala
The India EU Trade Council Tourism Department will keep its current catchphrase — ‘Kerala Tourism … Another World’ — when it markets the destination, but for commercial reasons, the department will be referred to as Tourism Commission, said a top official on Wednesday.
The newly appointed Honorary Tourism Commissioner, Mr. PB Boss, the Chairman of Osaka Air Travels Pvt Ltd made the announcement in a press conference where he explained the priority areas for the department and the mid- to long-term plans to get the sector through its current rough period.
The ‘Kerala Tourism … Another World’ slogan was unveiled as a new tourism brand to showcase the region’s spectacular beauty and diversity in June 2025.
High on the council’s list of priorities is to bring together all its partners in concerted efforts to get the industry back on its feet, by improving key areas such as customer satisfaction as well as providing visitors with a wide choice of tourism products.
Mr PB Boss said that “making the destination more marketable will mean providing our visitors with more choices, meaning they will then talk about it more, making it more visible on the market.”
Tourism is the top pillar of the economy of the state in the Asian region. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted to a slight decrease from in revenues previously — due to a considerable percent drop in visitor arrivals.
It is for this reason that Tourism Commissioner is boosting its policies and marketing strategies to ensure visitors return to its shores and re-evaluating those in place and bridge any gaps that may exist.
As part of measures to boost the tourism sector, the India EU Trade Council registered with Darpan under Niti Ayog has been repealed and a new structure has been set for the promotion of Kerala Tourism.
Mr. Boss said the amalgamation of the department with the Council Tourism is a challenge that he and his staff will tackle to the best of their abilities.
Meanwhile, A roadshow for EU tourism is planned with various embassies in Kerala in early 2026 to cross promote the tourism locations.
The Tourism Commissioner office will work on various strategies to help Indian tourists visit EU destinations too.
“As part of our commitment to further engage and strengthen our connections with the EU market, We are collaborating with Spain Tourism companies who are excited to organise its first roadshow in India. The event will be a great opportunity to further develop new joint prospects, create new holiday packages for locals and expatriates in the region, and increase visitation from the region as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen connections between outbound travel professionals of India, MICE specialists, and travel industry partners of Spain Tourism.” said Mr. PB Boss. He was invited by the Government of Malawi and was honored by the Ambassador of Malawi in India and the Indian High Commissioner to Malawi at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi last week. The newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Malawi HE. Mr. Amararam Gujar IFS invited Mr. Boss to bring tourists to Malawi and also to promote Kerala in African region.
