“They expressed optimism as to the conclusion of the Indian-EU free trade agreement by the end of the year, which would also give a major boost to commercial and economic cooperation between the two countries,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in an official statement.
Discussions come together after years of delay
Negotiations between India and the EU, in progress for almost two decades, have recently taken out of the momentum. According to the chief negotiator of India, L. Satya Srinivas, the frequency of talks has increased the next round scheduled for July 7.
“There are pieces on which we work together. Momentum has taken up in the talks and the frequency of meetings has increased. Earlier, the negotiation towers took place every quarter, but now we have reduced time between the towers,” said Srinivas.
The proposed ale covers 23 chapters, including key areas such as gender equality and sustainability. The two parties are now aiming for a complete agreement by December, rather than a partial or early tranche by July.

Meanwhile, Srinivas added that the India -UK trade agreement – which has been negotiating for months – is almost ready for signing, following recent progress.
Economic corridor to stimulate regional stability
Addressing the delayed economic corridor of India in East-Oriental, Prime Minister Modi said that the initiative is very promising to improve regional stability and economic growth. The corridor, currently affected by tensions in Western Asia, is designed to improve trade and connectivity between India, the Middle East and Europe.
In short, high -level diplomatic awareness of India in Cyprus highlighted its strategic efforts to deepen trade links with Europe and strengthen its role in the reshaping of global supply chains.
