It was the first meeting between Japanese ministers and European economic security.
After the talks at the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels, Kiuchi told a press conference that “the scope of security has developed to include economic and technological fields”.
“It is important to build supply chains that depend too much on a country, while working not only with the United States (Japanese), but also with European countries that share common values,” he said.
Kiuchi said his discussions with Sefcovic, a commissioner for trade and economic security, focused on economic security, even with regard to increasing concerns about the impact of the Priceries of US President Donald Trump on world supply chains.
