
The two countries have already finalized the reference conditions covering 19 chapters for a proposed BTA. The 19 chapters cover prices, goods, non -tariff barriers, customs facilitation, rules of origin and regulatory problems.
An Indian delegation should go to Brussels in Belgium next week, where the European Union headquarters are located with 27 members (EU). India should organize pre-negotiation talks with the EU, because the two parties discuss an early harvest agreement, similar to what India has signed with Australia. The 11th round of FTA talks in India-EU should take place in New Delhi from 12 to 16 May.
While the talks for an ALE proposed between India and the United Kingdom are heading for their final stages, sources have said that the collision point in ILO negotiations is the question of dispute resolution, although another complete series of negotiations is unlikely as discussions are growing at a rapid rate.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, should also embark on a multi-noble 5-day visit on April 27, during which he will visit London in the United Kingdom, Oslo in Norway and Brussels in Belgium.
Including Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) should officially ratify its Commercial and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) with India by the end of 2025. Although India and Liechtenstein have already ratified the TEPA reported on March 10, 2024, the process in Switzerland is longer.
