
India and the European Union (EU) held the 4th EU-EU maritime security dialogue on March 21 in Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.
The Indian delegation was led by Muanpuii Saiawi, joint secretary (disarmament and international affairs), Ministry of External Affairs, and the EU delegation by Maciej Stadejek, Director of the Security and Defense Policy, European External Action Service, in accordance with the MEA declaration.
The two parties have given ways to maintain a secure maritime environment conducive to inclusive growth and world well-being. They examined the current cooperation initiatives in the maritime field and the avenues for strengthening international and regional mechanisms for full maritime security. They agreed to strengthen their common efforts in fields such as the fight against illegal maritime activities (IMA), the protection of critical maritime infrastructure, the development of regional capacities and capacity building activities, according to the press release.
It was agreed to hold the next cycle of the dialogue on a mutually practical date.
Earlier, the 3rd EU-EU maritime security dialogue took place on October 5, 2023 in Brussels.
The Indian delegation was led by Saiawi, a joint secretary for disarmament and international security affairs, the Ministry of External Affairs and the EU delegation by Ambassador Joanneke Balfoort, Director of the Security and Defense Policy, European External Action Service, in accordance with the MEA.

They explored ways to strengthen their common efforts in areas such as the fight against illegal maritime activities (IMA), the application of maritime laws and capacity building. They also discussed cooperation in the Ethe Nhaian awareness of the maritime field (MDA) and awaited impatiently an upcoming Indian-EU maritime commitment.
It was agreed to hold the next cycle of the dialogue on a mutually practical date.
