Earlier Monday, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt said that 2025 would be a “revolutionary year” in the relationship between India and the European Union.
Speaking with Ani, Bildt said that the two parties undertook to reach an agreement by the end of the year.
“I think we will have a breakthrough this year in the relationship between the European Union and India. There is now a commitment to the Indian teams and the EU to have a kind of agreement concluded by the end of the year,” said Bildt.
“It must be difficult. It must require compromises on the European side and on the Indian side, but in the rather uncertain environment that we have for world trade with prices … I think it would be very important,” he added.
During the visit of the president of the EU Ursula von der Leyen in India in February, the two parties ordered their teams to conclude negotiations from the free trade agreement (ALE) by the end of the year.
The delegations of India and the European Union have held delegations on a range of subjects in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the president of the EU Ursula von der Leyen, and the leaders ordered their teams to conclude the negotiations of the free trade agreement (ALE) on Friday.
At the time, Tanmaya LAL, secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs (West), stressed that 20 ministers and ministers of state of the Union Cabinet and problems ranging from trade, digital green, energy, environment and connectivity technology were discussed. The president of the European Commission was on a two -day bilateral visit to India, accompanied by members of the college of European commissioners.
“The leaders ordered their teams that the India-EU FTA be concluded in the year. This is, of course, a very important result,” said Tanmaya LAL. (Ani)
