
The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said on Friday that India and the European Union (EU) discussed the means to seize the “security and defense partnership”.
“It is time to pass our EU-Indian strategic partnership at the next level. For our own security and our prosperity. For the world’s common challenges we face. And for the benefit of our respective regions and our partners around the world, ”said Ursula von der Leyen on Friday.
Perger for an “ambitious and investment business partnership”, Ursula said that European companies can generate massive employment in India after improving market access and business obstacles in India.

Calling for the finalization of free trade approval (ALE) between the EU and India, Ursula said that a trade agreement between the two would be “the greatest agreement of this type in the world”. She also suggested that India and the EU could finalize an ALE agreement during this year.
India-EU SECURITY, Defense Partnership
Ursula has announced that the EU was going to grasp its security and defense partnership with India and would establish links in the MOUD of relations with Japan and South Korea. India and the EU can have collaboration in several areas, including cybersecurity, space and drones.
“This will help us to intensify our work to counter common threats, whether on cross-border terrorism, maritime security threats, cyber attacks or the new phenomenon we see: attacks on our critical infrastructure,” she said.
India-UE discusses negotiations on the ALE
Earlier in the day, the Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and the European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Safety Maros Sefcovic discussed the progress of negotiations on the free trade agreement (ALE) proposed. EFT will stimulate bidirectional trade and investments.
