Jammu, February 28: Gaurav Gupta, spokesperson for the BJP, said that the visit of the European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen and the entire college of commissioners in New Delhi are a historic stage in India-EU relations.
In a statement, he stressed that this unprecedented visit underlines the growing stature of India and the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, making India a trust and strategic partner for Europe.
Citing the social media position of President Von Der Leyen, in which she described India a friend and a strategic ally, Gupta said that “the remarks of President Von Der Leyen reaffirm the position of India as a key partner to shape world stability. This visit goes beyond diplomacy – it means the growing role of India in the definition of global economic and strategic landscape. »»
GUPTA underlined the rapid progress of the negotiations of the Indian-EU (ALE) free trade agreement, noting that a solid ALE would unlock vast opportunities for Indian companies in Europe, would increase trade, to attract investments and create many jobs.
He also pointed out that India’s commercial commitment with Europe is gaining momentum in an increase in the uncertainties of global prices. “The United States examining its tariff structures and increasing trade barriers in certain sectors, many global companies are looking for alternative and stable trade relations. A robust Indian-EU AFT can provide European companies with a reliable supply chain and give Indian exporters better access to European markets at a time when global trade dynamics change, “he added.
Referring to the geopolitical significance of the visit, Gupta pointed out: “At a time when Europe finds itself excluded from key discussions on the peace talks in Russia-Ukraine and faces growing uncertainties in transatlantic relations, its commitment to India is more crucial than ever. While the influence of China in central and eastern Europe is weakening, European nations consider to India as a reliable and stable partner. »»
He also pointed out that at a time of displacement of the global dynamics of power, India and the EU had to collaborate to advance global security and stability. “While Europe redefines its strategic priorities, it considers India as a responsible and reliable ally,” he added. GUPTA also underlined the increasing diplomatic influence of India in central and eastern Europe, declaring: “India is engaged with these regions as an equal partner, shaping its own future and strengthening global links.”
