
India and the European Union aim to finalize a free trade agreement this year, the president of the European Commission said on Friday, Ursula von der Leyen.
In An opening speech During his two -day visit to New Delhi, Von Der Leyen said that a closer alliance with India would be “a cornerstone of European policy in the years and decades to come”, based on increased cooperation on trade, technology, security and defense.
“A free trade agreement between the EU and India would be the biggest agreement in the world. I am well aware that it will not be easy. But I also know that timing and determination count, and that this partnership comes at the right time for the two of us, “said Von Der Leyen after interviews with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
