
Delphin’s comments came following a visit to the senior Indian officials in EU institutions in Brussels to strengthen bidirectional security and defense ties.
“The Indo-Pacific Region is a vital hub of strategic importance for India and the EU due to the growing interdependence of global economies and the importance of maritime supply chains” -It declared.
The Indian delegation was led by Muanpuii Saiawi, joint secretary, division of disarmament and international affairs, at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
“This visit highlights the common commitment of India and the EU to strengthen security and defense ties,” said the EU envoy. Delphin said maritime security is a common concern and a privileged objective for cooperation, as illustrated by the EU naval force and the Indian Navy in their respective operations in the Indian Ocean. “Thanks to such visits, we can build a deeper mutual understanding, which is essential to advance cooperation,” he said.
“To bring our partnership to new heights, we aim to establish more permanent interactions of staff in Staff, including with military staff.” He added.
In August 2023, the flagship product of the EU Naval Force (Eunavfor) of Atlanta, its Durand de la Penne conducted a joint activity at sea with the Indian destructive Ins Visakhapatnam as part of the cooperation strategy of the EU in Indo-Pacific.
The Atlanta operation is a critical maritime security operation under the EU’s common security and defense policy (CSDP).
Its main mandate revolves around the deterrent, prevention and reproduction of hacking and armed robbery offices off the coast of Somalia.
In addition, Eunavfor Atlanta protects ships from the global food program and other vulnerable expeditions, providing the delivery of food aid and the safety of maritime roads in the region.
